 For this term in the cure, we discussed preventative medicine. This is the process of taking preventative measures to lower someone's risk of disease. This is, before or early on in the process of getting a disease. If someone is iron deficient, they will take iron supplements to decrease the risk of future issues involving iron content in the bloodstream. If you are at risk of being a diabetic, dietary measures will probably be put in place to help prevent becoming diabetic.

Me is the patient we are going to be looking further at. His family has a history of genetic disorders, and we are going to look at his risk for heart disease. In the past few generations, thirty percent of his family tree has had heart disease.

He has a regular routine of exercising, eating somewhat healthy, and doesn't take vitamins.

I would recommend not smoking, but taking aspirin as a blood thinner, minimizing alcohol intake, and asking your doctor about beta-blockers will certainly do you good. These are all measures that will prevent heart disease. Eat more fiber (beans, avocado, etc) and take multi vitamins as well. 

Goals for the future:

Take vitamins and supplements for any deficiency, or weaker areas in your nutritional intake. this could be done in about 1 week.

Lose 10 lbs in 1.5 months through diet and exercise combined. Seek a physician, get a gym membership, and be conscious of your overall activity

change diet according to test results over the course of 2 months, look at test results, analyze, and find a diet that fits all areas that are lacking attention

walter, you silly goose

in this term, we discussed greek choruses. what a greek chorus is. we also have looked at gender norms. we looked at a raisin in the sun. we then had to make a greek chorus about one specific character. I chose Walter, the most controversial character. he's dynamic, bold, and rude. however, his delivery of the truth is what I think modern generations lack in honesty. walters role was the pessimistic approach to everything, side with the ones winning kind of mindset. he bullies others and dalks down to them. i think his over critical traits are more of what society needs, minus the weak structure.

overall I think the best part of this course was the ability to have discussions in class. this project was made easier because I could discuss it with my peers. i think the most difficult part of the project was having to look back at the text, or maybe figuring out how exactly to format it.

 In this term of cure, we have learned about drugs, medication, and substances. We also learned about how medications affect our system to achieve the desired effect. Our ap is to find certain cures for a symptom. I have chosen…

Hangovers. We've all had them. Let's say I'm a raging alcoholic college student in need of a cure for a hangover within the next five minutes before class. What do I do? Well. there are many options presented to us in this situation. One is drinking lots of water, to rehydrate after large amounts of alcohol, due to the ethanol intake causing dehydration. Coffee, as a stimulant, may help with the grogginess of a hangover. One medically inclined treatment is Ondansetron, to treat nausea when experiencing hangovers.

An over-the-counter solution is an ibuprofen, to help with the ill-feeling, as it gets rid of the cause.

Symptom: hangover

Hangovers are a result of ingesting ethanol, which makes you dehydrated and nauseous following the intoxication.

Treatments:

Ibuprofen 

This will help clear nausea and sharpen the dull feeling in your head.  The recommended dose is 3-4 tablets, as it is an NSAID. An NSAID is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, and since many side effects of headaches relate to inflammatory issues, this will work perfectly. 

Inactive ingredients: colloidal silicon dioxide, hypromellose, lactose, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, carnauba wax, propylene glycol, titanium dioxide, croscarmellose sodium

Coffee 

Caffeine is a stimulant, which will counteract the effects of alcohol, a depressant. The bitterness will also help jar your system. Coffee can also shock your system with the taste. Caffeine is also a anti inflammatory drug, so it has the same root intention as taking ibuprophen, but some may enjoy coffee more.

Ondansetron

One prescription drug that helps with hangovers is ondansetron, a medication that targets nausea by blocking serotonin output in the gut and central nervous system. Recommended dosage: 1 8mg tab

quiggles the doll

In this term of Spanish, we went over more vocab terms. 

We also made little dolls and described them using vocab we learned. 

I named mine Quiggles, he plays the guitar and is wearing a toga. 

The most challenging part was the Spanish, or creating the guitar out of pipe cleaners.

I made my doll a musician because it is relatable, and I figured id have more to write about.

hello, welcome back to my blog. This term, we have a course called drama. We are focusing on gender norms in the play macbeth. In this ap, we were instructed to create sonnets going over gender norms in the play, I chose to address Macbeth's downfall. I also created a translated version.

hello! in this term of cure, we were told to create an informational pamphlet about a specific surgery of our choosing. I chose osteo-odonto keratoprosthesis, a procedure that uses your tooth to better your eyesight. we also looked into cells, and how they function. cells have organelles, like how the human body has organs. they both have the same basic function, which Is that they each take care of the body and complete certain tasks to keep its host alive. and just as if an organ is attacked by a disease, an organelle will be affected in the same way, lessening the hosts chance of survival without a specific function. 

Osteo-Odonto Keratoprosthesis Procedure
Have you experienced a slight to total loss of sight? You may be eligible to undergo a procedure to help fix several different types of blindness and sight loss.


How may you have lost sight? Some common causes include eye trauma, clouding of the lens, increased eye pressure, retinal damage due to diabetes, breakdown of the central portion of the retina, inflammation of the optic nerve, and stroke.


What is the procedure? Developed almost fifty years ago, this procedure originated in singapore, and has proven time and time again to be successful, is still in use today. By taking one of the patient's teeth, doctors will run tests to determine oral hygiene, and structuring support within the patient's eye to allow for better sight. The tooth gives the support needed for the eye to function.






Side effects: mucosal problems, crippling debt, better eyesight. The surgery costs about 67,000 USD in total.


Circumstances: corneal diseases, other diseases pertaining to ocular dysfunction in the cornea. If the oral hygiene is good (no smoking, chewing of betel nuts, other such orally degenerating activities) and can be kept post-procedure.


Procedure:

 






Post-procedure: there are risks associated with this procedure, such as other infections, worsening of the patient's situation, however, there are post-procedure checkups at a weekly pace for 1 month, then once every 3 months, then paced every 2 months for half a years time, and then every 4 months, if all is well. If all is well, the check-ins can be further spread, if approved by the team of doctors and the patient.
